What will you do?

As a Senior Electrical Engineer supporting our Aerospace division in San Diego, you will be helping to lead and grow our electrical engineering capabilities for aerospace applications. You will be leading development of electrical subsystems and/or embedded software for space and airborne applications. You will work with an interdisciplinary team of optical, mechanical, and software engineers to develop creative solutions for a wide variety of applications. The role will also include contributing to non-Aerospace projects within the broader company. 

 

Essential Job Functions:

Project & Technical Leadership

  • Serve as technical lead for the development of electrical and embedded systems
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, including mechanical, optical, and software engineering, to develop assemble and test fully integrated systems
  • Develop and own subsystems as direct contributor
  • Delegate, oversee, and review project work while providing mentorship to more junior engineers
  • Contribute to sales efforts by writing proposals, presenting engineering capabilities, attending conferences, and contributing to technical marketing content 
  • Participate in the hiring process to grow electrical engineering capabilities for aerospace applications

Research & Development

  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in electrical engineering and related technologies for aerospace applications.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in electrical systems and development workflows

 

Location

Position is based in San Diego with a hybrid schedule.*

What are we looking for?

•    BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field 
•    6+ years of industry experience 
•    Experience with high level design responsibility for complex electrical subsystems
•    Experience with Analog/Digital circuit design and simulation 
•    Experience with schematic capture and PCB design 
•    Experience developing C or C++ for microcontrollers and System‑on‑Chip (SoC)
•    Proficiency the Git version control system 
•    Demonstrated ability to work in and lead a technical team 
•    Ability to prepare proposals and presentations and assist with sales meetings
•    Experience contributing to make/buy trade studies and collaborating with external vendors.
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills
•    Must be US Person (US Citizen or US Permanent Resident) 

Preferred Qualifications

•    Experience developing system architecture for space or airborne electronics with flight heritage
•    Familiarity with NASA mission risk classifications and deriving electronics and test requirements from high‑level mission/standards
•    Experience developing and owning Interface Control Documents (ICDs), deriving and flowing down requirements, defining electrical architecture, and maturing electrical designs through formal reviews (SRR/SDR, PDR, CDR) and Assembly, Integration & Test (AI&T) to verification closure (V&V/RVTM)
•    Experience with vendor management: SOW creation, technical direction, acceptance test, and quality management of subcontractors
•    FPGA programming experience (VHDL or Verilog)

Compensation and Benefits

Senior Electrical Engineer pay range: $114,609– $187,270 *

*This pay range represents base pay. In addition, you may be eligible for additional benefits and compensation.
