What will you do?
As an Engineer II or III in our Herndon, VA office, you will perform structural analyses of air vehicles, spacecraft, and components. You will work on both metallic and composite structures, tackling challenging problems in dynamic loads, aeroelasticity, and structural substantiation, to bring designs from concept through test and certification. Your role will involve collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, solving complex engineering problems, and providing technical expertise that shapes the performance and safety of next-generation aerospace systems.
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform detailed static and dynamic structural analyses of aerospace components and systems using FEA tools (e.g., NASTRAN, ANSYS, Abaqus)
- Analyze structure subjected to dynamic loads including vibration, shock, acoustic, and transient events across spacecraft and aircraft platforms
- Perform structural substantiation for aircraft structure and modifications to meet FAA and/or military requirements and specifications
- Perform aeroelastic stability analyses of air vehicles including conventional and cutting-edge vehicles including commercial, military, UAVs, air mobility, and more.
- Correlate analytical results with ground vibration, wind tunnel, and flight test data to ensure accuracy of models and predictions
- Develop, refine, and maintain finite element models to support structural dynamics and aeroelastic evaluations
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to integrate aeroelastic and dynamic considerations into design and certification efforts
- Prepare technical reports and present analysis findings to internal stakeholders, customers, and regulatory authorities
Location
Position is based in Herndon, VA with a hybrid schedule.*
*The hybrid work arrangement is subject to change based on business needs including but not limited to training, performance, or other operational requirements. Any physical location change may impact future employment.
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering discipline
- 5-10 years of experience in structural and aeroelastic analysis
- Proficiency in FEA and aeroelastic simulation tools (e.g., NASTRAN, ZAERO, CFD/FEA coupling)
- Experience with composite materials and lightweight structures
- Familiarity with aerospace standards and certification processes (NASA, FAA, DoD)
- Must be a US Person (US Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident)
Compensation and Benefits
Engineer II pay range: $78,279 – $127,907 *
